Podcast #37, 05/01/06, rough translation:
Greetings everyone and mahalo for listening to the Nahenahe.net podcast #37. Today is Monday, May, 2006. This is going to be a special and short podcast. Normally I try to produce a podcast every second Sunday, however, I have a special song to play today along with some announcements, so this is going to be released on Monday, May 1, 2006
I have written about Barefoot Natives, that is Eric Gilliom and Willie K, on Nahenahe.net. Their first CD is going to be releaed on May 23, and the first Barefoot Bash will be held on June 11, 2006 at the Lahaina Civic Auditorium on Maui on June 11. Also performing will be Henry Kapono, the Mākaha Sons, Hapa and Gypsy Pacific. Admission is 30, so if you are going to be on Maui on that day, do go to this concert.
I believe that everyone has heard of Willie Kahaialiʻi, who goes by the name Willie K. He’s from Maui, and his first CD, Kahaiali’i, was released in 1992. He has also put out CDs with his friend Amy Hānaiali’i Gilliom. Eric Gilliom is one of Amy’s brothers, and a well known actor previously, though he now focuses on playing guitar and singing.
The Barefoot Natives’ new website has just been launched, and they also have a website on MySpace.com.
I will have more news in the coming weeks, and perhaps I will be able to play some more music from their new CD. However, at this time, I will play the first song from Barefoot Natives, Fa Mai Ra Oe is its name.
Play “Fa Mai Ra Oe”
I was very excited to hear this first song by the Barefoot Natives, and and am equally excited to hear the rest of the songs on their new CD. I would like to thank Brian Kohne for his sending these news items and announcements about the work of Willie and Eric . So, my friends until we meet again next week, take care.
