Podcast #48 Translation

Podcast #048 10/29/06, rough translation:

Greetings everyone, this is Keola and mahalo for listening to the Nahenahe.net podcast #48. Today is Sunday, October 29, 2006. I decided to change the podcast format just a bit, it is now done in MPEG4 format with graphics. Please let me know if you have any problems listening to the podcast.

I would like to remind everyone about the Hawaiian music conference that will be held in Kona on Saturday, November 11 at the Kapālama Dining Hall of the Kamehameha Schools Campus on November 11. I encourage all members of the recording industry in Hawai‘i to attend this conference as the information presented is incredibly valuable for everyone. The panels will discuss haku mele, recording your music, business and legal aspects of the music industry as well as promoting music. I will talk again on the panel that discusses promoting your music. For more information, contact Skylark Rossetti (808) 935-2180. And the conference will be held again on Maui in January, I will announce details of that conference in December.

I am going to start playing the promotial announcements of other podcasters in this podcast, and will start by playing this one from my friends on Maui.

Play “MacHelpMaui promo”

If you have a Macintosh computer and would like learn more about the Macintosh, you should listen to this podcast. They also play Hawaiian music in each and every podcast. Scott use to work at Apple Computer, and he is incredibly knowledgeable about the Macintosh and its programs.

I’ve talked a lot about Kenneth Makuakāne’s new CD, Makuakāne, over the past few weeks, and about how we worked together to make the CD. I have a lot of funny stories about our working together. Here is one of them…. I wrote a song for John Kameaaloha Almeida last year, and sent the lyrics to him by email one day. I left my office to get lunch, and when I got back to the office I checked my voicemail and heard this message from him.

Play “Pua O Pauoa Phone Demo”

I laughed a lot when I heard this demo, but I really liked it as well. The song changed slighly over the months that followed. I was very happy with the final version, and I would like to play this song for you, “Pua O Pauoa” the name song I composed for John Kameaaloha Almeida.

Play “Pua O Pauoa”

Play “Kenneth Nahenahe Drop”

I played the music of SugahDaddy in one of my very first podcasts, and I have some new music from one of the members of that group, Darrell Aquino. I saw Darrell and his wife Michelle at the music industry conference held in Kona two weeks ago. They gave me a copy of Darrell’s new CD, “Live Love, Love Life”, and allowed me to include music from the CD in this podcast.

Play “Live Love, Love Life”

Thanks to both of you, Darrell and Michelle for allowing me to play this music in my podcast. I will play more songs from this CD, “Live Love, Love Life” in upcoming podcast.

I heard perhaps two weeks ago that Manu was running for a seat on the Board of OHA, and I announced it on Nahenahe.net. Manu is the leader of Ho‘okena, an employee of OHA for many years, the kumu hula of Hālau o ke ‘A‘ali‘i Kū Makani, and has done much good work in the Hawaiian community. I am going to vote for him, and encourage everyone to consider him as well.

There are many new CDs out, and many more will be coming out in the weeks that are coming up. There are new Christmas music CDs from The Brothers Cazimero, Keali‘i Reichel and Keahiwai, and perhaps more to come. Brittni Paiva has a new release coming out next week as well, and I will be playing music for her in a future podcast. I also have some interviews being lined up, so it will be an exciting end to the year 2006.

No my friends, that is all I have for you this week. Until we meet again next week, take care.
