Podcast #54 Translation

Greetings everyone, this is Keola and mahalo for listening to the Nahenahe.net podcast #54. Today is Sunday, June 03, 2007. I announced several months ago that I was going to end the Nahenahe.net podcasts, and do record one last podcast. I never did that, so I am going to do a few more before I end them. They will be short, and I will play one or perhaps two new songs per podcast, along with announcing some news about the Hawai‘i recording industry. I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone who has ever downloaded and listened to a podcast, particularly those that continued to listen after I changed it to be in the Hawaiian language. I am very grateful to all of the artists and labels who have allowed me to include their songs in the podcast.

I will begin by playing a song by Hoku Zuttermeister. He has recorded with many other artists, such as Sean Na’auao, Ku’uipo Kumukahi, Kawaikapuokalani Hewett, Raiatea Helm and Brian Tolentino, but his first solo CD will be released this week. Here is a cut from this CD, La’ieikawai, from “‘Āina Kupuna”.

I played several songs by Kenneth in podcasts last year, Kenneth and I both appear on the final ballot for engineering and haku mele, and “Makuakane” made the final ballot in the “Hawaiian album of the year category. Mahalo to everyone who supported us.

This year, I began to word with the tracks from his CD, adding drum parts to the songs, and Kenneth has allowed me to use some of these remixes in the podcast. Here is our song “Days Gone Bye”, with the drumming of Mick Fleetwood. Mick is the drummer from the group “Fleetwood Mac”.

So, was that interesting. We will be doing more remixes like that of songs from the CD, perhaps after his new CD is done.
