Susan's Hawaiian Music Page -- early November '96

Aloha mai! My web site has moved: I can now be found at:

http://www.nahenahe.net/susanmusic/current.html

or (same site, different entry!)

http://www.interpac.net/~nahenahe/susanmusic/current.html

Nahenahe.net is Keola Donaghy's baby -- those of you who have seen Keali'i Reichel's, Willie K's, Keola Beamer's and Dennis Pavao's web pages have seen Keola's work. The main entry page for nahenahe.net is:

http://www.nahenahe.net

It features links for many if not all Hawaiian musician pages, Keola's editorials on Hawaiian music (read Covermania!), and other Hawaiian music sites.

I will still be available through Ryan Ozawa's Hawai'i newslist, and on the usual newsgroups. However, my web page will be more fun, as it will have audio clips and CD covers when possible.

How this page works: I list the latest Hawaiian music CD releases, and the Hawaiian music concerts for the ensuing two week period around the world. I also list new concerts that I hear of, no matter when they are, to give those of you out there a "head's up" to get those front row seats. If you're looking for other concerts, or for gigs, you can use the Dakine Online link at the bottom of my page.

As always, I welcome your comments and appreciate those of you who take the time to tell me about new concerts in your areas. Special thanks this time around to Keola, Maria, and Kimo!

Recordings

Pa'ani Pila, Pa'ani Pila (Liko Records LRCD1401). Four talented guys play some old favorites, some contemporary pieces and five original numbers. Songs include Golden Stallion, Mino'aka, and Help Me Make It Through the Night.

Blaine Kia, Friends of Mine (Island Jam Records IJR 73163) A solid selection of songs including Kalihiwai (which opens with a powerful chant), Brown-Eyed Girl, and Warrior of the Sea.

Almost made it:

Na Leo Pilimehana, Anthology. The original street date for this CD was October 1; however, due to some production problems, it has yet to be released to the general public. Here's an audio clip to give you a preview -- I hope to have full info in the next page!

I hear that the street date for the new Ka'au Crater Boys release is November 2 (but I also hear that there's a problem with the master, so....) KINE is already playing a cut from the CD, so maybe Real Soon Now.

***Note: The two Hapa CDs (Hapa and Holidays) were not available for a while due to problems with the label, but I have heard from a distributor that they should be available now.
